San Diego, Ca — September 4, 2013 — BP Logix, a developer of BPM software that accelerates time-to-value, today announced that Stone Plastics and Manufacturing Inc, has selected Process Director to automate and streamline its business processes. Process Director will be deployed initially to implement the company’s Program Launch Process (PLP). That process consists of more than 40 sub-processes, from initial customer requests to tooling, engineering and quality assurance that cross all parts of the organization. The Program Launch Process generally takes place over a three-month period, with an average of 75 programs running concurrently.

Stone Plastics and Manufacturing, Inc. is a custom injection molder and assembler of plastics parts for the automotive, building and consumer industries. The company, which was founded in 1999, offers services ranging from mold design and build to assembly and decoration. Based in Michigan, Stone Plastics and Manufacturing relies on robotic automation, two-shot molding, insert molding, sonic welding and other technical innovations to deliver products that meet customer specifications. The company achieved and maintains its ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems certification to reflect the cornerstone of Stone Plastics and Manufacturing’s product philosophy, delivering quality products that meet or exceed industry standards.

Having experienced dramatic growth over the past four years, from an average of 10 concurrent programs in the launch phase to over 75, Stone Plastics and Manufacturing began looking for a solution that would blend operational workflows and project management. Due to the time-sensitivity of their Program Launch Process, the company recognized the need to address variability, dependencies and changes to that program.

Traditionally a custom development operation, the expected time to develop a solution in-house was nine months. Mark Pease, Director of Technology for Stone Plastics, concluded that an off-the-shelf product could be more cost-effective and efficient. Recognizing that business process management represented a key strategic initiative, and having a history with MS Project and process mapping, Pease’s group issued a formal RFP. Their criteria included:1) Integration with the company’s existing ERP system and other third party applications, 2) APIs that would trigger workflows and forms, 3) A ‘friendly’ user interface and 4) The ability to model complex processes and environment.

“As a manufacturer, time has always been a critical factor for us as we had struggled with how to manage all the deliverables that had to happen concurrently,” commented Pease. “A flowchart-based product did not provide a solution for managing the end due date —- and that was pivotal to our decision to select BP Logix Process Director,” he remarked.

Pease and his team are moving forward by starting with the Mold Repair process which receives 50 repair requests per month, contains 20 different steps, many forms and embraces five distinct roles. “We did not do an ROI. Implementing Process Director was a survival requirement to reduce the volume of email, phone calls and hallway conversations related to advancing processes. Mobile support, form widgets and the Process Timeline™ provide the information flow we need and help to streamline our operation,” he stated.

“BP Logix is pleased to work with a dynamic, growth-oriented organization like Stone Plastics and Manufacturing,” stated Jay O’Brien CEO of BP Logix. “Ensuring the integrity and repeatability of processes and gaining greater visibility into those processes are benefits Process Director provides our customers,” he concluded.
