Process Intelligence and Predictive Analytics Form the Basis for Patent Approval
San Diego, Ca — November 15, 2012 — BP Logix, developer of BPM software that accelerates time-to-value, today announced that it has been granted US Patent number 8,296,170 for Process Director by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In granting the patent, the USPTO has recognized many of the unique features that have made Process Director an award-winning technology. The patent covers Process Director’s proprietary Process Timeline™ technology, which integrates the dimension of time into BPM, and its predictive analytics, which enable process owners to apply real-time metrics to predict when deadlines will be missed. These capabilities, in addition to dozens of others noted in the patent, empower process owners to simulate potential scenarios in real time, assess the impact of alternative action, making their businesses more predictable, compliant, and efficient.
Process Director fuses traditional workflow automation with the Process Timeline™ technology to move business process management (BPM) under the direct control of process users. The Process Timeline™ empowers these users to create complex and powerful processes by laying out the steps as easily as in a spreadsheet. Users start by creating rich, dynamic forms using a Microsoft Word plug-in, then combine the forms with the Timeline technology to automate and improve even the most sophisticated business processes.
The Process Timeline™ enables these business users to: 1) Review historical and current data related to business processes, 2) Specify the order, dependencies and conditions related to those activities within running processes, and 3) Instantly implement corrective action to overcome pending problems, if any are present. Process Director/Cloud Edition provides this product functionality within the BPM as a Service paradigm.
"Being awarded a patent for our technology is an affirmation of the new and innovative capabilities found only in Process Director," stated Jay O’Brien, CEO of BP Logix. "As a result of achieving this milestone, the USPTO is now acknowledging what our customers have said: that the Process Timeline enables them to drive process improvement to a higher level," he concluded.
