BPM Project Based on Deployment of BP Logix Process Director
San Diego, Ca — December 12, 2011 — BP Logix, a developer of BPM software that accelerates time-to-value, today announced that the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a BP Logix customer, was named a finalist in the 2011 Global Awards for Excellence in BPM & Workflow. NIMH is the largest scientific organization in the world dedicated to research focused on the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses. In its 19th year, the prestigious award, sponsored by WfMC and with media support from BPM.com, recognizes organizations that have excelled in implementing innovative business process solutions that address strategic business objectives.
As a federal entity, IT procurement and investments are critical expenditures that must be closely managed and monitored. The BPM project for which NIMH was nominated was developed in response to its need to streamline the IT acquisition process, account for every expenditure and threshold and demonstrate compliance with both organizational and governmental standards. The Institute achieved this goal by developing a comprehensive, automated process that embraced the required workflow and electronic signatures needed for each investment. Making that process consistent, accountable, timely, and efficient was essential to achieving that objective. NIMH was able to design a process that supported compliance requirements, while also providing a comprehensive solution that embraced workflow, electronic forms and the requisite signatures necessary for each procurement. To develop and implement that process, NIMH used BP Logix Process Director to automate and streamline operations, improve user support, and reduce costs.
The deployment of Process Director has resulted in an automated and streamlined approach to IT procurement, enabling NIMH to bring IT procurement into compliance with standards, reduce unnecessary buys, and eliminate potentially wasteful or redundant purchases. It also has reduced the time required to account for purchases as well as to process IT purchase requests. Cost savings have been substantial, including a 95% reduction in expenditures for non-standard equipment and software as well as a 50% reduction in IT procurements overall.
"We're honored that NIMH’s BPM project was chosen as a finalist for this award," stated Jay O’Brien, CEO of BP Logix. “We believe that the Institute’s ability to demonstrate compliance, accountability and auditability represent an achievement worthy of recognition. We are proud to support customers like NIMH with the BPM technology that enables them to achieve their business objectives.”
As a finalist, the NIMH case study will be published in the annual edition of Excellence in Practice by Future Strategies Inc.
